OPD Simple Download

For OPD clinics · Windows and Mac

The OPD desk that runs on your clinic's own computer.

Appointment queue, patient records, prescriptions and receipts in one app. It works without the internet, keeps every record on your computer and backs itself up every day.

Start with a 14-day trial key. Needs Windows 10 or 11 (64-bit), or macOS 13 Ventura or later.

What it does

Built for a doctor and a front desk working through a day of outpatients.

Today's queue

Check patients in, hand out tokens, add walk-ins and follow-ups, and see who is waiting, with the doctor or done.

Patient records

Find anyone by name, phone number or UHID. Past visits, vitals and receipts sit on one page.

Prescription pad

Sections in your own order, drug suggestions from a built-in list, templates, and shorthand that expands: type tds, get 1-1-1.

Allergy warnings

OPD Simple warns you when a drug you prescribe matches an allergy recorded for that patient.

Prints on your letterhead

A4 prescriptions with your own header, footer, margins and signature, sent straight to the pad printer if you like.

Receipts and payments

Services, discounts, tax, split payments, dues and refunds, with a view of the day's collections.

A PIN for each person

Doctor, front desk and admin each sign in with their own PIN and see what their job needs.

Looks after itself

A backup every day and whenever you close the app. New versions download in the background.

Getting started

Each computer gets its own key from us. A trial key is issued the same way and lasts 14 days.

  1. Install

Windows: open OPD-Simple-Setup and follow the installer. It adds OPD Simple to the Start menu and the desktop.

Mac: open the .dmg and drag OPD Simple into Applications.

  2. Send us your installation id

The first screen says Activate OPD Simple and shows this computer's installation id. Press Copy and send it to us on WhatsApp or by email.

    Installation id (example) 7KQ2-9M4X-H3TD-PW6C-2RNACopy
  3. Paste your key

We reply with a licence key. Paste the whole key into Licence key and press Activate. If we send a .lic file instead, use Open a .lic file…

  4. Set up your clinic

Choose New clinic and enter the clinic and doctor details, then pick a doctor PIN and an admin PIN. To look around first, choose Load demo data: every demo PIN is 1234.

Your records stay in your clinic

  • On this computer. Everything you enter is saved on this computer. There is no online account and no cloud database.
  • No internet needed. The queue, prescriptions, printing and billing all keep working when the connection is down.
  • Backed up every day. Daily backups are kept for 30 days, plus one a month for a year. Add a USB drive or a synced folder as a second place in Settings → Data → Backups, protected with a passphrase if you like.
  • What leaves the computer. OPD Simple checks for updates and sends a short status message: the installation id, licence and app version, when the last backup ran and similar health details. It holds nothing about patients and not the clinic's or the doctor's name. Settings → Data → Heartbeat shows exactly what is sent.

Where things are

Windows

Records
%APPDATA%\OPD Simple\
Backups
Documents\OPD Simple\Backups\
The app
%LOCALAPPDATA%\Programs\OPD Simple

Mac

Records
~/Library/Application Support/OPD Simple/
Backups
~/Documents/OPD Simple/Backups/
The app
/Applications/OPD Simple.app

On Windows, if OneDrive manages your Documents folder, the backups sync to OneDrive too. Turning on BitLocker (Windows) or FileVault (Mac) protects the records if the computer is ever lost.

Questions

Windows says “Windows protected your PC”

Click More info, then Run anyway. Windows shows this for programs it has not seen often yet.

My Mac says OPD Simple can't be opened

Open System Settings → Privacy & Security, scroll down and click Open Anyway next to the message about OPD Simple. On older versions of macOS, Control-click OPD Simple in Applications and choose Open. You only need to do this once.

What happens when the trial or licence ends?

From 14 days before the end date, a banner shows how many days are left. After it, OPD Simple becomes read-only: everything already entered can still be viewed, printed and exported, but nothing new can be added. Paste a new key and it works again straight away, without a restart.

Why did OPD Simple turn read-only before the end date?

The computer's clock probably went backwards. Keep the date and time set automatically, and replace the clock battery if the time resets whenever the computer is switched off. Contact us and we will send a code that unlocks it.

How do I update?

OPD Simple downloads new versions by itself and installs them when you close it, or straight away with Restart to update. Help → Check for updates looks right now. Without internet, run the newer installer over the old one; your records stay. Never install an older version over a newer one.

Can I use it on more than one computer?

Each computer needs its own key, because a key only works on the computer it was made for. Tell us how many computers your clinic has and we will help you set them up.

How do I uninstall it?

Windows: open Settings → Apps, find OPD Simple and choose Uninstall. Mac: quit OPD Simple and drag it from Applications to the Trash.

Uninstalling keeps your records, licence and backups, so a reinstall picks up where you left off. To remove patient data for good, delete the Records and Backups folders listed under Your data.

Something is not working

Choose Help → Report a problem. It saves a support file on your Desktop with no patient data in it. Send that file to us with a line about what happened. If we need to see your screen, Help → Remote support (AnyDesk) gets us connected.
